Hilltop Edition is a husband /wife team who truly enjoys singing and playing
the simple acoustic traditional style of Gospel and Bluegrass.

We are proud to announce that in answer to our prayers two long time friends
have recently joined us and their God given talents have greatly enhanced the
sound of our group. Alpha Anthamatten whose beautiful harmony and
Bill Cason whose wonderful bass completes the new sound of Hilltop Edition.

George attended South Plains College in Levelland, better known as
"Bluegrass U" and played guitar and bass with school ensembles and
many different bluegrass and country groups. He is a remarkable bluegrass
rhythm guitarist, or as Alan Munde once said, "George plays a really fine guitar".
He also sings baritone and some bass which adds greatly to the unique blend.
He has played all around West Texas, Eastern New Mexico
and Western Oklahoma.

Gale grew up in a musical family and displayed most of her musical
abilities in churches in the tri-state area as well as family and
community events. She sings lead or harmony in a high clear voice.
She is an ample mandolin player as well as some fiddle, a little bit
of guitar, and the up-right bass. She has recently added the auto-harp
to her list of instruments she enjoys playing.
She can't leave out that she grew up playing piano when the family
played together at home. She was also the church pianist for a couple
of years where she attended.

Together the Rotan's have played in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma,
at a variety of places such as restaurants, community events, Bluegrass Festivals,
jams, musicals, churches, school functions, memorials, funerals, benefits, fund-
raisers, birthday parties, grand openings, and family reunions just to name a few.

They are members of the Abilene Bluegrass Club (ABC),
the Panhandle Bluegrass & Old Tyme Music Association (PBOTMA)
and the West Texas Bluegrass Association (WTBA) recently renamed
Permian Basin Bluegrass Music

Alpha grew up in a singing family and exhibited her talents in churches and local
events. Her family spent many hours sitting around the house singing those traditional
Gospel tunes. As a teen she sang with her home area “Up With People” and “Sing
Out America” groups. She sings lead, harmony and has a varied vocal range.
Alpha is currently learning to play the banjo and promises to surprise us on stage soon
with her banjo.

Bill grew up singing in church and has done so his entire life. As a youngster he showed
an interest in the fiddle but gave it up until most recent years. Bill enjoys singing bass as
well as lead. He has been a faithful bluegrass follower for 40 plus years traveling throughout
Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas pickin' and grinnin' with some of the best of bluegrass.

The group continues to play a variety of venues anywhere from church services to
back porch jammin'.
